Restaurante Puig Campana is a long-established Mediterranean seafood restaurant in La Cala de Finestrat, right beside the sea and only a short distance from Benidorm. Founded in 1970 by the local Llinares family, it has built its identity around the traditional maritime cooking of the Costa Blanca, particularly rice dishes, fresh fish and seafood

This is more of a destination restaurant than an everyday café or casual international venue. The waterfront location, extensive seafood menu and emphasis on local Mediterranean cooking make it particularly suitable for a leisurely lunch, dinner with friends or taking visiting family somewhere that represents the cuisine of the Alicante coast.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Rice is one of the restaurant’s major specialities. The menu includes Alicante-style paella, arroz a banda, arroz negro, arroz del senyoret, seafood paella, lobster rice and several dry and creamy rice preparations. Its signature Puig Campana rice combines red tuna, cuttlefish and artichokes and can be ordered dry or meloso.

Fresh fish and seafood are equally important. Depending on availability, the kitchen works with locally sourced species such as sea bass, dentex and sea bream, prepared grilled, baked or in salt.

Other choices include turbot, red tuna, lobster, red prawns, mussels and tellinas. The menu also includes meat dishes for diners who would prefer something other than seafood.

For remote workers and long-stay residents, Puig Campana is particularly valuable as somewhere to discover the regional food culture beyond Benidorm’s international restaurant scene.
